What do we do ?

Since 1978 we have been organizing six-month linguistic and cultural exchanges for young children. The two children spend a year together, 6 months in their own country and 6 months in their exchange partner’s country.

About 2000 children have benefitted from our exchanges.

Why are we so successful?

One of the major answers is that we are the only organization where at least one Executive meets all the children and families in the different countries.

For the first 12 years we only did our exchanges with primary school children. Then gradually more and more children told us that they wanted to do a second exchange in another country, learn a second language, and have another foreign brother or sister. So we complied with their wishes. However it is easier for a 9 or 10 year old to do a successful exchange than it is for a 12 or 13 year old. A young adolescent is more complex than a 10 year old who has confidence in their new family.

70% of our exchanges are done in primary school.

20% in the first or second year of secondary school.

10% afterwards.

Canada with “International Student Exchange”

In August 2009, En Famille International and ISE (International Student Exchange) www.iseontario.on.ca decided to join their knowhow and experience to work together.

We now have two programs in Ontario :

The six-month exchanges for children aged 9 to 13

The three-month exchanges for teenagers aged 14, 15 and 16.

If you live in Ontario, please contact www.iseontario.on.ca and ask for an Info Pack.

Our Executive in France is Christine Viguier.  christine@enfamille.com.

Teenagers aged 14, 15 and 16.

At our Committee Meeting in January 2010, we thought that after more than 30 years of experience with children, we could extend our programme to teenagers aged 14, 15 and 16 in France, Ireland, Britain, Germany, Spain, the US.

For these exchanges, the length of stay can vary from 3 to 6 months.

In Canada, we already work with ISE. (read above).

So as from now, 2010 …

… We are happy to propose wonderful long term exchanges for children and teenagers aged 9 to 16 !
